Adult Bible Study

Holy Cross’ Adult Bible Class meets on Sunday mornings at 9:15.  In September we are taking a look at stewardship through the lens of the Great Commission.  Here’s a brief description of each week’s focus:

September 11th: Embracing Your Calling as a Disciple.  A disciple is one who is called by and follows Jesus Christ.  In the Great Commission, Jesus tells his disciples to make disciples of every nation.  In obedience to that command, we seek to understand how to be good stewards of the relationships God has given us.

September 18th: Embracing a Commitment to God’s Word.  God has given us a rich treasure in his Word.  As Lutherans, we believe, teach, and confess that the Bible is inerrant and infallible, beneficial for us in many ways, but especially because it points us to Jesus Christ for salvation.  Today we explore the power of that Word of God.

September 25th: Embracing a Lifestyle of Giving Joyfully and Generously.  God gives generously to us every day.  As the Small Catechism says, “I believe that God has… given me my body and soul, my eyes, ears, and all my members, my reason and all my senses, and still takes care of them.  He also gives me clothing and shoes, food and drink, house and home,” etc.  We give joyfully and generously in response to God’s gracious provision for us.  Today we see how even our generosity is a gift from God.

In October we will begin a series on Paul’s pastoral epistles, 1-2 Timothy and Titus.

Our time begins with adults and children in the sanctuary, and then we split up into groups by age.
